Every year we celebrate Labor Day as a national holiday. In the United States this day happens every September. Many people celebrate this holiday by taking a holiday or spending time with family and friends. Many people still wonder why we celebrate Labor Day.

1. The first answer to the question why do we celebrate Labor Day is because of a group advocating to have a special day for workers to rest and for everyone to acknowledge the rights of the workers in the eighteen hundreds. There were disagreements before as to the date when Labor Day would be set. Many people believe that Mr. Peter J. Mcguire, the secretary of the movement named Brotherhood of Carpenters was the one who set the exact day as to when Labor Day should be remembered. Peter Mcgguire was also one of the founders of the American Federation of Labor.

2. The second answer to the question why do we celebrate Labor Day is because it was officially adopted as a non-working holiday on September 5, 1882. This was the decision of the Central Labor Union.

3. The third answer to the question why do we celebrate Labor Day is because the idea of having the holiday became famous with several local governments and workers’ unions. Many municipalities began adopting the holiday right after New York started it until all of the states in America adopted the holiday.

4. The fourth answer to the question why do we celebrate Labor Day is because of the efforts of a law authored by President Cleveland. He was not a huge supporter of the unions for workers but he did discover the legislation which helped in the enactment of the Labor Day.

5. The fifth answer to the question why do we Labor Day is because the workers back in the 1800’s wanted to have a special day where they would ban together in a big demonstration. Today however this is not done anymore as it is deemed by many people as being impractical since most companies today can be found in industrial zones.

6. The last reason why we celebrate Labor Day is to have one day to celebrate the major impact that workers gave that industries around the world rose and increased over the years. The workers are the main reason why many nations developed successful economies. Today workers, teachers and other skilled workers also celebrate Labor Day.
