Children absolutely love to dress up in a variety of styles of costumes for all types of play activities and festive occasions. Often dress up events are limited to Halloween and maybe a Santa hat at Christmas, Easter also provides a great opportunity for kids of all ages to enjoy getting into the spirit of the spring season with a cute Easter costume.

For families and children that may be celebrating the religious aspects of the Easter holiday there are a variety of types of costumes that are perfect for the church play or simply to celebrate the day. A very versatile type of costume that can also be worn for other plays and events is a shepherd’s tunic costume. These costumes are a simple long tunic and over jacket, comfortable and easy to wear. Add the accessories of a shepherd’s crook or staff and a pair of traditional sandals or Roman lace up the leg sandals and you have a sure hit for a costume for a boy or a girl.

Beards and wigs can also be worn by young boys or girls to give the appearance of biblical figures. These wigs and beards are very durable and comfortable to wear with the beard attaching with an elastic band that slips over the head. There is no need to worry about removing the beard to eat or drink as it can easily be taken on and off even by a young child. Girls and boys may also wear head coverings that are very traditional from biblical times. These pieces may be sold separately with the tunics or as part of the costume.

An Easter costume in the form of a bunny, for kids of all ages, is just too cute to pass up. Kids from infants to teens will love to wear a white, cream or pastel colored bunny suit with an open face. These suits have a body piece that either zips up the back or the front and is designed to be a loose fitting one size fits all. The headpiece will be worn like a hood, attaching with Velcro under the chin. The open face design allows air flow around the head area to help with temperature control within the plush suit. Of course the hat will have the hallmark bunny ears, some which can be positioned with light wires that are inside the ears themselves. Kids can also add mitts and shoe covers that match the suit, really adding to the overall effect.

These suits are perfect for both boys and girls. Girls can always opt for the pink plush suits while boys can choose blue pastel colors. White is ideal for both boys or girls. Adding a few accessories can also add to the detail of the costume. A foam filled carrot is a great thing for the kids to carry around, but so is a decorative Easter basket. Adding a cute little bunny nose that is attached with a thin elastic band is a simple and easy addition that kids can remove at any time if they want to eat or play.

Although not completely traditional, Roman gladiator outfits for boys and Greek goddess costumes for girls are also a great option for any child. These colorful and highly stylized costumes are sure to be a hit and definitely fit into the spring and Easter theme. Finding the right Easter costume for your child just takes a bit of discussion and planning and you definitely won’t regret it when you see them all dressed up and having fun.
